Our History

Our History

Jeffrey Sharlach, our Chairman and CEO, launched JeffreyGroup in 1993 after spending 15 years in New York at top international firms.

Jeff loved working with the Fortune 500 clients and top global brands at the big agencies but felt the financial pressure of being part of public companies didn't allow for the kind of personalized service and senior level attention that made working with clients satisfying and enjoyable.

When he moved to Miami to start JeffreyGroup, his objective was to deliver the kind of results that multinational companies demand and expect but with a goal of building long-term, mutually beneficial client relationships. Often that means investing in a client at the start of the relationship, something that is rarely possible when an agency has to meet certain financial targets each quarter to keep shareholders satisfied.

That philosophy has helped JeffreyGroup grow from a small two-person office in Miami to an international operation with over 100 full-time staff in five wholly-owned offices. Although the original focus was on Latin America where today JeffreyGroup is the largest independent agency, since 2004 the firm has been a leader in reaching U.S. Hispanic audiences as well. And while initially we were identified as a traditional public relations firm, JeffreyGroup has continually evolved to provide a full-range of marketing and corporate communications services.

We're proud that our current client roster includes companies like Acer, American Airlines, Bayer, Coca-Cola, Diageo, Fox, Johnson & Johnson, Nestle, T-Mobile, UnitedHealth Group, Volkswagen, and Xerox, among others. And we also work for lots of other companies that aren't as well known-but we're working hard to change that!

Our first offices circa 1994.
