In a challenging geopolitical context, the 198 countries attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27, restated their commitment to limit the increase in global temperature to 1.5C. However, the most significant progress of the event hosted in Egypt was the creation of a specific loss and damage fund to help developing countries, which are most vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
To better understand the event coverage, the JeffreyGroup Insights & Analysis team analyzed nearly 1.2 million publications from news portals and social media in 22 countries throughout the conference. ESG Monitor, an exclusive dashboard created and programmed by our team for mapping topics on Sustainability and Social Impact in partnership with Talkwalker, allowed the collection of this comprehensive data.
The following report brings the main themes discussed during COP27 and an overview of the most talked about topics in the press and on social media platforms.
